Evans D. Prieston
As a Senior Managing Attorney, Mr. Prieston actively manages complex mortgage banking mitigation and litigation matters for the American Mortgage Law Group, P.C. (“AMLG”) and its diverse clientele (e.g., national mortgage lenders, warehouse lenders, secondary market investors, loan servicing companies, Wall Street banking firms and insurers). Mr. Prieston is an experienced trial lawyer in federal, state, and local venues.
Mr. Prieston focuses his practice on mortgage repurchase issues. He represents clients to resolve repurchase and indemnification demands throughout the United States and currently supervises staff attorneys and paralegals working on repurchase demand issues throughout the firm. Mr. Prieston advises clients with solutions and resources to prevent and reduce the incidents of repurchase and indemnification demands. In addition, Mr. Prieston routinely litigates and advises mortgage banking clients as it relates to insurance claims, insurance coverage, and errors and omissions (“E&O”) coverage issues. Mr. Prieston has been the attorney of record in numerous compliance defense matters and complex mortgage resolution cases involving bankruptcy, appraisal issues, title actions, loan origination, securitizations, white collar mortgage fraud, and insider trading.
Mr. Prieston received a B.A. in Political Science from Fordham University in 1977 and a J.D. from San Francisco School of Law in 1981. He is licensed to practice law in California and New York.
Mr. Prieston has spoken on numerous occasions at industry events relating to repurchase demands and insurance related issues.
